“'What I am worried about is the monsoon' Mira has told me countless times ever since I have joined R K Swamy in town. I have to travel by local train between home and office and the rains in Bombay are notorious for holding up not only traffic but trains.”

On 26th July in 2005 a lot of people slept on railway platforms as all trains were cancelled due to rains. This year I was forced to take a day off twice because of the rains. Once on 1st and then on 28th of July.

I might not have posted these pics but I am posting them because it rained yesterday as well and it took me one hour to travel a distance of 4kms from the railway station to my home. I won't go on about describing what happens in the rains and why it happens. Enough has been written about that and this time I would like to share some picture I have taken on the 28th of July.

Everything in Moderation is fine. You can't help admiring how beautiful the Aarey Milk Colony looks during rains unless your thinking about the water flooding in your building.

I think this is rain water harvesting. The water has started filling the housing complex but is still limited to the green patch.

Now the water has reached the concrete floor of the building and a one or two more inches, it will flood the houses and the shops on ground floor.

The drain outside our building flows with a force that could scare even the most experienced and determined white water rafting enthusiast.

Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road-the road outside our building also gets flooded which results in traffic jams.

All this is still not enough to keep people from walking on the roads and risk falling in open manholes. Some entrepreneurs even see this as an opportunity to make a quick buck by offering to push the cars stuck in water to drier land.
