It's been quite a hectic week for Raj Thackeray's men. First they had to bet up the north Indian, set fire to buses and shops. All that as just come to end that they have to get on Valentine's Day duty. They have to go to places like Bandra Reclamation and Bandstand and other places where young lovers generally meet and then beat them up for celebrating Valentine's Day.
My theory is that we will get more and more intolerant in two ways:
“We live in a Global Village”
People talk about the world becoming a smaller place and you have EU which is trying to blur the boundaries between European nations and the term "global citizen" being coined (actually a long time ago). On the other hand we face a situation in Maharashtra where political parties are openly criticizing people from other states coming to Bombay. What is going on in Raj Thackeray 's mind now? "These Gujratis have a big presence in Bombay and a lot of them are doing quite well, we can beat them up. Then those south Indians who control the hotel business, they can be beaten up too. Once we are done with regions, we can go to other things like religion. What about the Muslims in Bombay. They should not have been here since a separate Muslim country was made for them in 1947."

“Bhala uska protest mere protest se violent kaise?”
Once Raj criticized the north Indians, Shiv Sena had to do the same thing. You know you have to match the standards of people you are competing. Now they are not the only fundamentalists in the city, you have a lot of other groups with very narrow perceptions. Once Shiv Sena goes after the Valentine's Day crowd, a lot of other groups may be motivated to do the same. What about the Muslim groups that criticized the dress of Sania Mirza during matches. I am surprised how they are quite so far.
Where does this leave us? Well as far as I am concerned, I don't want to be beaten up so I will not be taking any flowers for Mira. Over the weekend I would be staying home as I don't want to invite trouble by driving a car with Delhi registration plates.
We all know that in the past Shiv Sena has not only beaten up people but have destroyed goods as well including the flowers which they stomped on. One should also know that Shiv Sena farmers export flowers worth crores of rupees every Valentine season. Should one go and set fire to their farms too for being a part of such a dirty thing?
