Cricket may be a glorified sport in India but there is one cricketer who has not found anything glamourous about it.That man is Anil Kumble. I am not very good with facts but I don't remember any captain retiring mid series and by not playing the Nagpur test, Kumble has done just that.

After his retirement, everyone is singing his praise but when he was playing things were very different. Let's look at some of his accomplishments.

• He has taken 619 wickets, highest by an India
• He has played more matches than any other bowler (even more than Kapil Dev)
• He is the only player to take 10 wickets in an innings
• He has the best average among Indian bowlers

Inspite of that when he was a players, the facts people used to comment on were that he is not a genuine spinner. Batsman play him as a medium pacer. Thinking about, he created a form of bowling that didn't exist before and how good it was is proved by the number of wickets he has taken and yet all we saw was that he can't spin the ball like Shane Warne.

He said he is happy while saying farewell to cricket. Either he is a liar or is really big hearted because apart from the criticism mentioned above, Anil Kumble was put under tremendos pressure by just about everyne that he is old, should retire and Dhoni is the next captain. This was the treatment he got when he agreed to captain the team when noone else wanted to do the job.
