“You should count yourself lucky that you can get in a foul mood when you get a stupid assignments. The TV reporters have to look happy and genuinely interested even when they are reporting things they hate.”

No matter what your profession is, you will never be able to do what you have to do. It has happened to me very often that I find myself working on things that either defies logic or things that I hate or sometimes both. At times like this, I do the job and crib.

Now imagine you are in a position where you not only have to do that assignment you hate but have to be happy about it. This thought came to my mind when I found a large group of journalists outside Amitabh Bachchan's house just before or after the wedding of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan and outside Lilawati hospital a few days ago when he was hospitalized.

From my point of view I couldn't be bothered about what they are doing and I am not an exception, there are a lot of people who think like me. I am sure some of those journalists also think that way and I just couldn't help but imagine this conversation

I'm not happy at all
I'm not happy at all
Well you may not be and you are lucky you can throw a tantrum about it and be grumpy, a TV reporter on the other hand, has to look cheerful.

“Mohit, you are covering the wedding of Abhishek Bachchan”
“But the wedding is over.”
“I know but they have to make a trip to their kul devi temple”
“Is it really something we ought to cover”
“I don't care what it is, if it is something related to the Bachchan, I want it covered”
“But why, why can't I go and cover the conference of the Asian Prime Ministers”
“You know why you are still a junior editor even after 8 years”
“I guess I know...but I guess I can't help it either”
“I don't give a shit; I want you posted outside the house 24X7”
“24X7? when is this going to happen?”
“We don't know, maybe this evening, maybe tomorrow or may be a day after... we are not sure”
“Great, I think I will take my family along with me camping too.”
“Don't act smart with me and get your ass down there.”

Cursing his luck, this poor guy will not only be chasing every car leaving or entering Amitabh's house but will be smiling all along, trying to look as interested in the whole thing as he could. Now this is what is definitely worse than my situation.
