“There is no place for minnows in a tournament like this,” said Ricky Ponting before the start of the World Cup and I guess he spoke too soon.

The Indian and the Pakistan teams seem to be out there just to prove Ricky wrong. India lost to Bangladesh and Pakistan did even worse by losing to Ireland. Something that the coach Bob Woolmer found so disappointing that he died. The coach was found unconscious in his hotel room and later died in the hospital by shock of losing to Oreland. I hope the coach of Ireland is not as shocked as he is by the win of his country that he also dies. Even if he had not died in Wes Indies, he would have been scared for his life when he returns to Pakistan after crashing out like this, just like every single player of the Pakistan team would be right now.

On the other hand, the Indian team is like a second hand Fiat that won't start in the first attempt. Just like you would need the help of a couple of friends to give it a push on a cold or even a warm morning, Indian team's world cup also starts like this, last time also they lost their first match. After they lost they match, people in India got really angry and damaged the property of some cricketers including the houses of Rahul Dravid and Modh Kaif. The saving grace last time was that they lost the match to Australia but this time around they lost to Bangladesh, a team that doesn't even deserve to play in World Cup according to Ricky Ponting. This time too the people in India are really angry and doing all sorts of things from burning effigies to destroying the property of MS Dhoni. Last time some players including Sachin Tendulkar came out and assured the public that they would do their best and I guess a statement like that is going to come this time too.

I am not an expert in Cricket and usually don't like to comment on things like team composition but now I can't stop myself. I am surprised of the inclusion of Sehwag in the Indian team. I am not sure what he has done to keep Dravid and the selectors so happy but he has kept them quite happy to be included in the team duck after duck after duck. It is not rocket science that his inclusion and then failure affects every one in the team. Just like a non-performer in a project we do will not only affect the deadline but the over all quality of the project and also will mean an increased pressure on the rest of the team. Every time Sehwag fails, he puts extra pressure on other players too. I think it is high time that he sits out of the team or maybe we should make sure that his mother is making phone calls to people watching the match in the stadium so that he will hit a six on the next ball.

Sehwag ki maa
Sehwag ki maa and for good measures, Sehwag ki biwi as well.

Australians on the other hand are doing quite well and are not lowering their standard to match the team they are playing and that is evident by the 200+ runs margin of victory in both the matches.
