Cricket is not something I like to write about as there are a lot of other who have infinitely more knowledge about it than me and secondly because a lot of Indians have lost interest in it including me but I couldn't stop myself from writing about it after the recent events.
The team for West Indies has been selected and the inevitable finally happened. After disappointing the team, the selectors and the whole nation umpteen times, the butcher of Najafgarh-Virender Sehwag has been finally dropped from the team. He came with a lot of promise but of late he seems to be feeling really awkward holding a bat. He has been given enough chances like Kaif and finally his luck and the patience of everyone ran out.

On the other hand Saurav Ganguly has been included in the team. When he was sidelined, most of the people, including me, thought it was better for him to retire. He thought otherwise along with some of his diehard fans back in Calcutta and ten months later when everyone had thought he would never make it back, he is back in the team.
Last but not the least is the non-cricketer who is trying to make an entry in the Indian cricket team. He is Baba Ramdev. He has been suggesting yoga for the players, initially for individual players like Dhoni and Dravid and now for the entire team. Every time the Indian team is beaten, he would make a statement that the players should practice yoga. He has been teaching yoga for quite some time but never earlier he was so determined to improve the performance of the Indian Cricketers. I guess he just has found out what kind of multi million dollar contracts these cricketers have for endorsement and he just wants a part of the pie.
While I am talking about the cricketers, I would like to ask you how easy or difficult it is to drop a player from the team. If you think about it Sachin is not doing all that well and he was not doing too well before his injury either. It would be easier to drop a new player for the same performance but is it as simple to drop Sachin. Similarly what made the selectors wait for so long before dropping Sehwag? I guess they just waited till it was proved beyond any doubt that he should be out. They had to wait for it so that it will be easier for them to justify their decision and to handle the pressure some people would have put in them to have those players in the team. What do you think? Is it easy to drop a non-performing new comer than an experienced player or is it the other way round.
