“I believe that a camera is a tool and in the hands of a good photographer it will produce good result if the phoographer is creative. At the same time even a Hasselblad in the hansd of bad photographer is nothing more than a single use pinhole camera.”

I am maintaining a photo blog for the past 19 months and in these months I have got a lot of comments about my photos. Quite often people would say, “Hey, this is a brilliant image. What camera do you use?” When I used to tell them I have a Coolpix 4100, they used to be surprised as a lot of them were expecting something more professional.

I believe that a camera is a tool and in the hands of a good photographer it will produce good result. Just like you don't become a carpenter by buying a tool kit or you don't become a designer by installing PhotoShop and lots of fonts, you don't become a good photographer just by buying a camera.

I agree that photography has become quite easy by introduction of pinhole and auto focus cameras. Digital photography has made it even simpler. So simple that I can safely say there are no bad photographers any more, there good and then there are mediocre photographers in today's world of digital photography.

I Still get asked about which camera I use and a lot of people do get surprised when I tell them that I have a Nikon Coolpix 4100. Once a guy called Saurabh called me from Bangalore to tell me that he has seen my site and he is really impressed with the pictures I have there. He also asked me which camera I have and when I told him he was really surprised “Oh! I thought you had some really funky camera that must have cost you 1-2 lacs of rupees”

A week ago I bought a Lumix FZ 50 and using that I took the image below.

Now this is an image where the capability of my camera is quite important because no mater how good he is, no one could have taken this picture with a coolpix 4100. Usually I may get irritated if you asked me which camera I use as it implies that it is just the camera taking a picture, not me but in this case, I guess I won't feel bad as the camera is as important as my skill.
