Yesterday in Bombay Times I read about an item girl who was getting phone calls from a person asking her to join the escort agency as a callgirl. Now before I go further I would like to say that I am not sure of all these facts are true are not as it is very difficult to verify them but she was given an offer of more than 3 lacs rupees for entertaining a client of the owner of the escort service. The report said that there are a lot of girls in show business that are moonlighting as callgirls to make ends meet...or to sustain their lifestyle they get used to after being famous for some time. It said that these girls make up to 3-4 lacs rupees per night.
Almost half a million rupees to get laid is a hell of a lot by any stretch of imagination and this actually makes one think what kind of people are the clients of these girls and from where do they get the money. An average person can't even think about blowing that kind of money either on a callgirl or a bargirl. It takes someone like Telgi with the stamp paper money to be able to do this.
While thinking about it, I was thinking who could be having that kind of disposable money and these came to mind
- Criminals in extortion business
- Corrupt politicians
- Spoilt kids of corrupt politicians
- People with a large unaccounted income that can include smugglers, highly paid actors and such Stinking rich foreigners in India for a business...or pleasure (converted to USD the amount comes to less than 7000, still a lot but maybe thinkable
Now think about how those people make their money. Corrupt politicians are thriving on the money we are paying for taxes or in bribes from businessmen or corporate that eventually again trickles to a common man in the way of high prices. Real estate is one example, the money builders spend in bribing the minister for clearing the land for construction is charged from the buyers of the houses in terms of high rates. Spoilt kids of politicians get that money from their parents and I have just mentioned how that is going from us.
Any rich actor gets the money from the producer, the producer gets it from a financer, the financer gets it from distributors and the distributors get it from cinema owner and the cinema owners get it from people like us in the form of 150 bucks for a ticket.
Criminals in extortion business are getting this money from rich actors, builders and other businessmen and how they get that money is just mentioned above.
This means that every time a "premium" callgirl goes to a hotel room to spend quality time with someone, we are paying the bill for it and not just the fee for the callgirl but other expenses like hotel room, booze, food and whatever else.
Actually if you think about it, we are not only paying for this, we are paying for every expensive hobby of the rich people, directly or indirectly. We may have come a long way in term of civilisation, we may be living in a free world, in the largest democracy in the world but do you really think our situations have improved vastly over how things were for the galley slaves or the slaves who built the pyramids. Think about it.
