When you are not sleeping, the staff of Rajdhani Express keeps you busy by giving you something or the other for eating and drinking.

As the train leaves the station, you are given a bottle of water. A little later fruit juice is served which is followed by snacks, tea or coffee, the dinner, ice cream, tea, breakfast and again some fruit juice and it goes on till you leave the train.

This is a good example of hospitality and I guess it is something they have to do if they want to justify the fare of the train. Not only you are given all this, if you ask for more of any thing, the attendant is too happy to oblige, as long as it is not water.

They will give you more tea, food but if you want another bottle of water, you have to pay for it. This beats me. The cost of anything they serve in the train is higher that the cost of bottled water and keeping in mind that they are bottling the water themselves, the cost is next to nothing. Even then they will charge you 10 bucks if you need more water.

Paying for cable TV is as outrageous an idea as asking the advertisers to came in your house and paint ads all over your walls and then pay them for doing it.

The length of a Hindi movie is roughly between 2 hours to 2.5 hours but all movie channels take 4 hours to show a movie. About as much time is consumed by the ads as the movie. Sometimes during the commercial break, I forget what I am watching. That's why they keep reminding us what movie we are watching by displaying movie's name at a corner.

This makes me think about the logo of the channel that is being displayed all the time. It is less for branding and more to let people know which channel they have switched to during an ad break. Just think about it, I read the TV guide and find that a particular movie is on at a particular channel. I switch to that channel and realize that it is the correct channel because the right movie is on. But the chances of me switching to that channel while the ads and being shown are as much as when the actual movie is on. In such a case, I can see the logo of the channel and be sure that I am on the right channel. I may now go and mow the lawn before the movie comes back on.
