There was a kid who could draw well. He could draw well even before he knew it, he could draw well even before he could write. Is it any wonder that he has become a visual designer? You may say that he could have become a painter. Get real, to get to a stage where it is possible to make a decent living, a painter has to struggle too damn hard. So he took the easy way out you may say. Yes he did. Anything wrong with that? I guess not.
Anyway, let's leave that debate behind us and find out more about what that kid. The first place to give him a break was Nirula's corner house in New Delhi where he worked in the in-house design department. After spending two years there he left because he was not sure anymore if the life was real or was it deja-vu. It was nice doing the promotions for Valentine's Day, Diwali, and Christmas for one year but when the routine was repeated, it was not all that fun anymore.
So what to do? The natural step was to get into advertising and he landed in Mudra Diversified. It was a short stint as he was soon to leave for Australia. How did he go there? Well it is an interesting story.
One of his friends—Mandeep Malhotra was interested in going to Australia for studies and our hero offered to help. "I am taking a day off and I will go and find out details about some courses for you" and sure he did and not just for Mandeep but for himself too. He came back with a prospectus and decided there was no harm in filling up the form, then he felt there was no harm in applying for the visa and there is no harm in paying the fee for the course either. Before he could realise what is happening, he was in Melbourne, pursuing an Advance Diploma from Victoria University of Technology.
He has an Advance Diploma in Multimedia, an award for student of the year and experience in a Weekly classified magazine and a web design firm to show for the three years he spent in the land downunder. When he realised that most of the people he knew, including Mandeep, are leaving Australia. He decided to pack his bags too and come back to Delhi once again, rubbing his eyes to get a clear view and to later realise there is nothing wrong with the eyes, it is the pollution that is making everything so misty.
Now he is back in India and for the past 4 years he is working with Tata Interactive Systems as a Senior Specialist—Communication Design.
